*. 聖經的箴言非常優美，精簡，是很好的詩詞學習範本，
.. 也是做人的提點。與您分享幾節箴言 proverbs

18:21
The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat it's fruit.
生死在舌頭的權利下，喜愛它的，必食它的果子。

19:1
It is not good to have zeal without knowledge,
nor to be hasty and miss the way.
心無知識，乃為不善；腳步急快的，難免犯罪。

19:5
A false witness will not go unpunished,
and he who pours out lies will not go free.
作假見證的，必不免受罰；吐出謊言的，終不能逃脫。

19:11
A man's wisdom gives him patience;
it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
人有見識，就不輕易發怒；寬恕人的過失，便是自己的榮耀。

19:19
A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty;
if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.
暴怒的人必受刑罰；你若救它，必須再救。

19:20
Listen to advice and accept instruction,
and in the end you will be wise.
你要聽勸教，受訓誨；終久將使你有智慧。

20:3
It is to a man's honor to avoid strife:
but every fool is quick to quarrel.
遠離紛爭，是人的尊榮；愚妄人都愛爭鬧。

20:6
Many a man claims to have unfailing love,
but a faithful man who can find?
人多述說自己的仁慈，但忠信人誰能遇著呢？

20:10
Differing weights and differing measures-
the Lord detests them both.
兩樣的法碼，兩樣的升斗，都為耶和華所憎惡。

COPY 箴言 Proverbs 20

懶惰人因冬寒不肯耕種。
到收割的時候，他必討飯，而無所得。
The hater of work will not do his ploughing
because of the winter;
so at the time of grain-cutting he will be
requesting food and will get nothing.

人心懷藏謀略，好像深水。
惟明哲人，才能汲引出來。
The purpose in the heart of a man is like deep water,
but a man of good sense will get it out.

行為純正的義人，他的子孫，是有福的。
An upright man goes on in his righteousness:
happy are his children after him!

誰能說，我潔淨了我的心。
我脫淨了我的罪。
Who is able to say, I have made my heart clean,
I am free from my sin?

孩童的動作，是清潔，是正直，
都顯明他的本性。
Even a child may be judged by his doings,
if his work is free from sin and if it is right.

不要貪睡，免致貧窮。
眼要睜開，你就吃飽。
Do not be a lover of sleep, or you will become poor:
keep your eyes open, and you will have bread enough.

買物的說，不好，不好。
及至買去，他便自誇。
A poor thing, a poor thing,
says he who is giving money for goods:
but when he has gone on his way,
then he makes clear his pride in what he has got.

有金子，和許多珍珠。（或作紅寶石）
惟有知識的嘴，乃為貴重的珍寶。
There is gold and a store of corals:
but the lips of knowledge are a jewel of great price.

以虛謊而得的食物，人覺甘甜。
但後來他的口，必充滿塵沙。
Bread of deceit is sweet to a man;
but after, his mouth will be full of sand.

計謀都憑籌算立定。打仗要憑智謀。
Every purpose is put into effect by wise help:
and by wise guiding make war.

往來傳舌的，洩漏密事。
大張嘴的不可與他結交。
He who goes about talking of the business
of others gives away secrets:
so have nothing to do with him whose lips
are open wide.

咒罵父母的，他的燈必滅，變為漆黑的黑暗。
If anyone puts a curse on his father or his mother,
his light will be put out in the blackest night.

起初速得的產業，終久卻不為福。
A heritage may be got quickly at first,
but the end of it will not be a blessing.

你不要說，我要以惡報惡。
要等候耶和華，他必拯救你。
Do not say,
I will give punishment for evil:
go on waiting for the Lord,
and he will be your saviour.

人冒失說，這是聖物，
許願之後才查問，就是自陷網羅。
It is a danger to a man to say without thought,
It is holy,
and, after taking his oaths,
to be questioning if it is necessary to keep them.

人的靈是耶和華的燈，鑒察人的心腹。
The Lord keeps watch over the spirit of man,
searching all the deepest parts of the body.

王因仁慈和誠實，得以保全他的國位，
也因仁慈立穩。
Mercy and good faith keep the king safe,
and the seat of his power is based on upright acts.

強壯乃少年人的榮耀。
白發為老年人的尊榮。
The glory of young men is their strength,
and the honour of old men is their grey hairs.

鞭傷除淨人的罪惡。
責打能入人的心腹。
By the wounds of the rod evil is taken away,
and blows make clean the deepest parts of the body.

人的愚昧，傾敗他的道。
他的心也抱怨耶和華。
By his foolish behaviour a man's ways are
turned upside down,
and his heart is bitter against the Lord.

財物使朋友增多。
但窮人朋友遠離。
Wealth makes a great number of friends;
but the poor man is parted from his friend.

好施散的，有多人求他的恩情。
愛送禮的，人都為他的朋友。
Great numbers will make attempts to get the approval of a ruler:
and every man is the special friend of him who has something to give.

得著智慧的，愛惜生命，
保守聰明的，必得好處。
He who gets wisdom has love for his soul:
he who keeps good sense will get what is truly good.

懶惰使人沉睡。
懈怠的人，必受饑餓。
Hate of work sends deep sleep on a man:
and he who has no industry will go without food.

謹守誡命的，保全生命。
輕忽己路的，必致死亡。
He who keeps the law keeps his soul;
but death will be the fate of him who takes no note of the word.

憐憫貧窮的，就是借給耶和華。
他的善行，耶和華必償還。
He who has pity on the poor gives to the Lord,
and the Lord will give him his reward.

暴怒的人，必受刑罰。
你若救他，必須再救。
A man of great wrath will have to take his punishment:
for if you get him out of trouble you will have to do it again.

人心多有計謀。
惟有耶和華的籌算，才能立定。
A man's heart may be full of designs,
but the purpose of the Lord is unchanging.

施行仁慈的，令人愛慕。
窮人強如說謊言的。
The ornament of a man is his mercy,
and a poor man is better than one who is false.

懶惰人放手在盤子裡。
就是向口撤回，他也不肯。
hater of work puts his hand deep into the basin,
and will not even take it to his mouth again.

鞭打褻慢人，愚蒙人必長見識。
責備明哲人，他就明白知識。
When blows overtake the man of pride,
the simple will get sense;
say sharp words to the wise,
and knowledge will be made clear to him.

虐待父親，攆出母親的，是貽羞致辱之子。
He who is violent to his father,
driving away his mother,
is a son causing shame and a bad name.

我兒，不可聽了教訓，而又偏離知識的言語。
A son who no longer gives attention to teaching is
turned away from the words of knowledge.

匪徒作見證戲笑公平。惡人的口吞下罪孽。
A good-for-nothing witness makes sport of the judge's decision:
and the mouth of evil-doers sends out evil like a stream.

刑罰是為褻慢人預備的。
鞭打是為愚昧人的背預備的。
Rods are being made ready for the man of pride,
and blows for the back of the foolish.

箴言 Proverbs 18

與眾寡合的，獨自尋求心願，
並惱恨一切真智慧。
He who keeps himself separate for his
private purpose goes against all good sense.

愚昧人不喜愛明哲，只喜愛顯露心意。
A foolish man has no pleasure in good sense,
but only to let what is in his heart come to light.

惡人來，藐視隨來。
羞恥到，辱罵同到。
When the evil-doer comes,
a low opinion comes with him,
and with the loss of honour comes shame.

人口中的言語，如同深水。
智慧的泉源，好像湧流的河水。
The words of a man's mouth are like deep waters:
the fountain of wisdom is like a flowing stream.

愚昧人張嘴啟爭端，開口招鞭打。
A foolish man's lips are a cause of fighting,
and his mouth makes him open to blows.

愚昧人的口，自取敗壞。
他的嘴，是他生命的網羅。
The mouth of a foolish man is his destruction,
and his lips are a net for his soul.

傳舌人的言語，如同美食，深入人的心腹。
The words of one who says evil of his neighbour secretly
are like sweet food,
and go down into the inner parts of the stomach.

作工懈怠的，與浪費人為弟兄。
He who does not give his mind to his work is brother
to him who makes destruction.

富足人的財物，是他的堅城，
在他心想，猶如高牆。
The property of a man of wealth is his strong town,
and it is as a high wall in the thoughts of his heart.

敗壞之先，人心驕傲。
尊榮以前，必有謙卑。
Before destruction the heart of man is full of pride,
and before honour goes a gentle spirit.

未曾聽完先回答的，
便是他的愚昧，和羞辱。
To give an answer before hearing is a foolish thing
and a cause of shame.

人有疾病，心能忍耐。
心靈憂傷，誰能承當呢？
The spirit of a man will be his support when he is ill;
but how may a broken spirit be lifted up?

聰明人的心得知識。
智慧人的耳求知識。
The heart of the man of good sense gets knowledge;
the ear of the wise is searching for knowledge.

人的禮物，為他開路，
引他到高位的人面前。
A man's offering makes room for him,
letting him come before great men.

先訴情由的，似乎有理。
但鄰捨來到，就察出實情。
The man who first puts his cause before the judge
seems to be in the right;
but then his neighbour comes and puts his cause
in its true light.

掣簽能止息爭競，也能解散強勝的人。
The decision of chance puts an end to argument,
parting the strong.

人口中所結的果子，必充滿肚腹。
他嘴所出的，必使他飽足。
With the fruit of a man's mouth his stomach will be full;
the produce of his lips will be his in full measure.

得著賢妻的，是得著好處，
也是蒙了耶和華的恩惠。
Whoever gets a wife gets a good thing,
and has the approval of the Lord.

貧窮人說哀求的話。
富足人用威嚇的話回答。
The poor man makes requests for grace,
but the man of wealth gives a rough answer.

濫交朋友的，自取敗壞。
但有一朋友，比弟兄更親密。
There are friends who may be a man's destruction,
but there is a lover who keeps nearer than a brother.

他病重在榻，耶和華必扶持他。
他在病中，你必給他鋪床。
The Lord will be his support on his bed of pain:
by you will all his grief be turned to strength.

你因我純正，就扶持我，
使我永遠站在你的面前。
And as for me, you are my support in
my righteousness,
giving me a place before your face for ever.

我拿什麼報答耶和華向我所賜的一切厚恩。
What may I give to the Lord for all the good things
which he has done for me?
